Historical Budo for Modern Times
The Bujinkan Yume Dojo was founded in 1986 and has been offering training in its current location since 2004.
The Yume Dojo is an official branch of the international Bujinkan Organization, headed by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi.
The Bujinkan is a school of Classical Japanese martial arts that is comprised of nine related lineages or Ryu-ha. Together, they are a comprehensive system of martial arts that includes everything from battlefield sword and spear fighting, to unarmed techniques for bodyguards, and everything in between.
At the highest level, these skills and philosophies of endurance against all odds are known as Ninpo or more commonly Ninjutsu.
At the Yume Dojo, you will build strength and confidence, develop discipline and coordination, and improve physical health and mental focus while learning the self-defense techniques of Samurai and Ninja; Classical Japanese martial arts.
Classes are taught in a non-competitive environment, focusing on coordinated movement utilizing unarmed and armed combat methodologies of the Samurai and Ninja. Training is a balance of classical practice and Self-protection techniques (Goshinjutsu).
We study a large range of Japanese weapons including sword (Kenpo), pole arms (Bojutsu), Spear and halberd (Yari & Naginata), flexible weapons (Nawajutsu), throwing blades (Shuriken), etc.
Training also includes integrated flexibility training similar to yoga, traditional Japanese healing arts, and meditation arts.
Training at the Bujinkan Yume Dojo is led by Christopher Davy (Dai-Shihan) under the direction of Masaaki Hatsumi of Noda-Shi Japan. Chris began his training in the Japanese martial arts in 1976 and began his journey into the teachings of the Bujinkan in 1981. Chris continues to travel to Japan and around the world for instruction.
The Yume Dojo has some of the most knowledgeable and experienced instructors. Senior Yume Dojo Shihan and Shidoshi level instructors have more than 25 years of Bujinkan training experience and with the Yume Dojo.
Yume Dojo instructors continue travel to Japan and around the world for continued instruction.
At the Yume Dojo we focus on traditional Japanese approaches to warriorship training as we have been taught by our teachers.
Through this process, students build a foundation of principle based movement that leads to natural awareness and self protection skills. Modern applications evolve naturally as part of the practice and is a key focus for our training.
